AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G gets Android 2.3 Update this August

An off-hand response from AT&T to a user on Twitter has confirmed that the Samsung Infuse 4G will get an Android 2.3 update on this month. The Gingerbread update will be provided by OTA update to your Infuse 4G.

This firmware upgrade brings more interface polish, a much improved copy-and-paste text system with a multi-touch keyboard, better app and power management, and overall better performance. An update to Android 2.3.4 would give it official support for Google Talk video chat, but it will add official recognition of the front camera without needing explicit support.

AT&T Android phone upgrade policy states that they will give Android 2.3 to every contract-based Android phone sold in 2011 before the end of the year. So far, the updates have focused the most on high-end phones such as the Atrix 4G and the Inspire 4G. Most phones have yet to be upgraded.
