Android is the no 1 mobile OS, means a lot to Google

Comparing with the Enclosure Movement in England between late 15 century and early 16 century, Android’s “Enclosure Movement” seems more rapidly. Depending on Google’s solid financial strength, Android began its large-scale enclosure the day it released in smartphone market. As of August 2011, Android accounted for 43.4 percent of worldwide smartphone sales, making it the No. 1 operating system, rising 35 percent the same period in 2009. According to Gartner, more than 630 million smartphones will ship worldwide in 2012, and Android will own 49.2 percent of the market. And now how the “organisms” lives in the ecosphere Android enclosures?

Earlier in October 2010, Apple Inc.’s CEO Steve Jobs emitted the bold word that RIM is fading in Apple’s rearview mirror. Apple sold 14.1 million iPhones and was up 91 percent year-over-year, handily beating the 12.1 million Blackberry RIM sold in the third quarter of 2010. Apple’s war flame extends to Android with Jobs’ ‘closed’ theory on Android and the cooperation with Verizon, however, Steve Jobs misjudged the situation. Both iOS and BlackBerry are not Android’s aim in s long term for it has exceeded iOS and Blackberry with 8.5 percent and 10.7 percent. iOS and BlackBerry were thoroughly deported from Android's zone.
Google android policy
Windows Phone 7 is a mobile operating system unveiled by software giant Microsoft in February 15, 2010, and is the successor to its Windows Mobile platform. Windows Phone 7 integrates the operating system with 3rd party and other Microsoft services, and plans to strictly control which hardware it runs on. In its first six weeks on the market, Microsoft claims over 1.5 million Windows Phone 7 handsets have been "sold" but those figures may be less significant than they first appear because the numbers do not represent phones actually sold through the channel to the end user. Instead, they are phones sold by handset manufacturers to mobile network operators and retailers, which in turn sell them to end-users. Windows Phone 7 need a long way to go before it could challenge Android.

What Android could take to Google?
Different from current other platforms like Nokia and Microsoft, Android is an impressive sales goal for an operating system that is completely free to use, handset makers don't need to pay Google any money for the ability to use its operating system. Puzzle is coming, how Android earns money? Don’t worry about Android; the booming smartphone market is its best opportunity.

Just as Google CEO Eric Schmidt said: "Android is much bigger than I could ever have hoped for. Android can become a hugely profitable business for us. Search on mobile will eventually exceed that of PCs … so, eventually, mobile will be a very, very strong revenue stream in comparison to PCs."

First of all, Google does get a cut of every Android Market sale; Google sells ads on the platform, and other content providers make deals with the search giant to get stronger presence on Android. AdMob and Apple iAds maybe the best method of Advertising, Location Based Advertising and Online to Offline Advertising is another way of making money …

For long term, making money with Android would be nearly ubiquitous. Google broke the major manufacturer and carrier distribution model, compared with other phones on the smartphone market, it hopes to create a large base of Android users who will champion the OS's superior capabilities. Providers will be forced to adopt Android meeting customer demand. Android extends Google advertising and tracking to mobile in a way that goes far beyond current Google mobile products like Search and Maps. Known to all, mobile search isn't very easy to use or powerful. How to solve the problem? Android is planning on changing that by combining speech recognition and synthesis for faster, easier input and output with users’ personal data from the smartphone (location, contact names and addresses, calendar and to-do entries…) and data known to Google (maps, web index, and the user's search and purchase history…) to deliver a revolutionary experience for smartphone users.

Google is all about the cloud. By allowing complex cloud computing applications to run wherever you are, Android has taken the world by storm. Google's Android will be to the iPhone what Windows was to the Mac. Android is Linux and there are many layers to the Android programming model that permit the creation of security apps tailor-made for cloud computing. The Internet's multitude of client and server computers coupled with the many different purposes and controlling entities that drive the progress of it resemble clouds. Couple this with the wireless-data revolution that the cell-phone companies have brought, and it does indeed seem like we're all awash in an invisible "cloud" of computing power.

Android handset makers are like kids peeing in their pants for warmth in winter
The openness of Android will bring a large amount of companies join the game. Finally Android manufacturers would suffer the fate of PC makers. Android "is a sloppy, band-aid measure for phone manufacturers that could ultimately hurt their brands, because users are buying phones for the operating system, not the phone maker." Nokia's outgoing smartphone boss, Anssi Vanjoki said

In the short term, the open mobile operation system could bring a large number of profits for handset makers, and smartphone to range from high-end to low-cost devices. Samsung Mobile, for example, which is the world's second-largest mobile phone maker after Nokia., plans to double its annual smartphone sales to more than 50 million units in 2011

For a long term, the rush of new market entrants, and the emergence of Android as the dominant offering will drive down gross margins for handset companies to dramatic new lows close to the 8–10% range endured by major PC manufacturers like Acer or Lenovo. Some handset companies may not survive.

The operating system, not the phone maker will be remembered by customers. Android handset makers are like kids peeing in their pants for warmth in winter

Money is still a pain for Android app developers
A top executive at Rovio, the famous mobile app--Angry Birds creator, said in an interview that it is still hard to make money selling apps for Google’s operating system and that Apple’s iPhone is likely to remain the top mobile destination for some time.

Many developers have hammered on about this one in the past. Google has never built efficient way to pay for developers’ Android Apps. Many are available on the Android Market, others through developer websites. What this makes is a situation in which developers don't always have a proper means of distribution, and promotion may also be tough to come across.

To Users, Google Often Means 'Free' just like the other services Google provided, including their email client, their OS and their applications. Matt Hall, co-founder of mobile developer Larva Labs, recently went on the record as saying, "Google is not associated with things you pay for, and Android is an extension of that. You don't pay for Google apps, so it bleeds into the expectations for the third-party apps, too." Because users are used to getting things for free, it's hard to find a way to charge them. This creates a vicious cycle of more apps being released for free for that very reason, furthering expectations of free software.

UK receive Samsung Galaxy Note on November, costs $773

I don’t imagine where is the position of Samsung Galaxy Note on people’s interest. You can call it a giant smartphone or small tablet as you wish. We just got an unofficial UK launch date of Galaxy Note via an online retailer, Clove. They said that Samsung Galaxy Note will be launching at the end of November. They also mentioned an approximate price of £500 ($773) + VAT for the Galaxy Note. Price seems much lower than we heard earlier.

Even if you are not in the UK, you will probably get the Galaxy Note around the same time. Except if you're in the US. Looking at how long it took for the Galaxy S II to get there, we're not sure if you'll be getting it at the same time as the rest of the world.

Google Wallet is knocking at the door

Google has disclosed an awesome teaser video for Google Wallet featuring George Costanza last week which implicates that Google Wallet may be releasing tomorrow. It will be a sleepless night for Google Wallet’s rivals.

With the release of "Google Wallet", the search giant became the first one to go into the future where smartphone could be used as credit cards. It is said that Apple, Amazon.com and Facebook are also making their way to come up with similar services. It is no doubt that Google has been the first player and no wonder then that the rivals wanted to cut the journey short.

Google has disclosed an awesome teaser video for Google Wallet featuring George Costanza last week which implicates that Google Wallet may be releasing tomorrow. It will be a sleepless night for Google Wallet’s rivals.
how to use my google wallet as credit card
Google unveiled Google Wallet and Offers in May this year and stated that field trials for Wallet would begin immediately. Google Wallet is a mobile app that stores your credit cards, offers, loyalty and gift card which will work with Android-powered phones like Google's Nexus S equipped with NFC chips, serviced by US telecom Sprint and only at merchants that have partnered with Google for the launch. MasterCard has been the only official partner on the credit card side of things so far. Google partners on the mobile payment platform include major chains such as Macy's, Subway sandwiches, and American Eagle Outfitters clothing shops.

As Google’s great deal, a massive of big giants like Mater Card, Citi, Sprint and First Data have invested in this open platform software. It is a great way of encouraging discounts, promotions and loyalty rewards. Customers are very exited about this new feature, but apparently the one who is the most upset is PayPal. PayPal are suing Google Wallet`s project leader for unveiling confidential information to Google about the development of the NFC mobile payment system. If this goes on, Google Wallet`s first transaction may be to PayPal. Currently, Ebay-owned PayPal the online payment service, has been working on its new mobile payment technology, which will rival Google's Mobile Wallet. PayPal promises its new payment technology will be a "one-stop shop" for merchants to engage with consumers at all the stages of their shopping cycle and will give consumers a much better shopping and buying experience. Its new payment technology will feature location-based offers, make payments accessible from any device, has integrated local search and loyalty and reward features.

When Google Wallet debuts. Credit card giant Visa and Google are likely to be among the first to face off in the market as they each try to convince consumers to ditch their real wallets for ones that store credit cards and other information on their smartphones. However, both companies profess that their respective digital wallets will be “open,” which means that they will finally work with any credit card. And second, the companies also see big opportunity in leveraging the digital wallet to promote location-based advertising through offers programs. While Visa will continue to generate revenue through traditional transaction fees it charges merchants when consumers use the digital wallet in stores, it will also add an advertising element that will enable the digital wallet to help merchants push new offers to customers based on where they made their last purchase.

Possible Samsung Nexus Prime support page is up in UK

*Update: Samsung Galaxy Nexus is known as Samsung Nexus Prime Earlier.
Lots of rumors and leaks are popping with upcoming Google Phone, Samsung made Nexus Prime. We are almost certain that Samsung I9250 will be the next Google Phone. The evidence that the Samsung I9250 is nearing its launch is becoming overwhelming after a leaked user agent profile and a dummy support page for the I9250 is online. The page is pretty much empty besides some FAQ's and How-to entries that don't belong to the Samsung I9250.
Google nexus prime release date and price
The Nexus Prime will be the first device running the next generation of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, which is hopefully coming out in October. Nexus Prime specs is not out yet, but we are sure that it will have a 4.65" screen at an HD resolution - not 4.5" WVGA. Samsung already has SuperAMOLEDs with HD resolution. The screen is curved just like the Nexus S screen. The device itself will be very thin - 8.8mm - and have a metal chassis, unlike previous models.

We are expecting that Samsung Nexus prime will be released at the end of October, supposedly just after the iPhone 5 launch.

As expected AT&T just released 4G Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play on their network. Just over four months after the unique device hit Verizon stores, the unique factor on this particular version of the "PlayStation Phone" is the inclusion of 14.4Mbps HSPA. A blurry shot of an unannounced Motorola tablet just leaked. The super-slim tablet appears to be sporting a screen much smaller than that of the Xoom . Samsung prepare to hit back next iPhone at homeland

Relation between Apple and Samsung is getting worse day by day. Currently, there are over 20 lawsuits between Apple and Samsung in progress and the fight has been going on since April of this year. Samsung is supposedly preparing a patent suit against Apple that should ban the next-gen iPhone sales in Korea. This was shared by a senior Samsung executive, wishing to remain anonymous, with The Korea Times.
iphone 5 release date
The soon-to-be patent suit will involve Samsung's wireless technology patents, which will supposedly be used by Apple in their next iPhone. Apparently the Korean manufacturer is sure that the Cupertino-based company will not be able to find a workaround for the issue. The unnamed exec reportedly shared this, as well:
For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights.
It's a very specific statement, that's for sure. Apple drew first blood with the nation-wide German ban on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales. Though the effect might not be as great as they hoped. Then the removal of the Galaxy Tab 7.7 from the IFA trade show and a sales delay for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia, following an injunction there.

Perhaps Samsung is now taking an attacking stance. A suggestion backed up by the counter-claim filled by the company in Australia, accusing Apple of infringing on 7 wireless patents, related to the iPhone and iPad.

The statement also says that the patents Apple used in their claims against Samsung, concerning the Galaxy Tab 10.1 were invalid. Apple has yet to comment on those statements.

FocalPrice Released 9.7 Inch Android 2.3 Tablet White Crow

Shenzhen, China, September 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Tablet fans will have the opportunity to get around for less thanks to a new series of affordable Android 2.3 tablet PCs available from China tech gadgets seller FocalPrice.

Online computer stuff dropshipper FocalPrice announced on September 5 that the store released a new series of sub 300 dollar tablet computers. These tablet computers adopt Android 2.3 operation system and Samsung ARM cortex-A8 CPU, with features including WIFI, external 3G and Bluetooth, a 9.7" Multitouch Capacitive screen, and 37 languages.

The iPad 2 is blowing up the tablet PC market. A handful of tablet vendors have been flooding the market with a wide variety of tablet PCs. 7 inch and 10.1 inch are the most common types. It is the first time that 9.7 inch has been seen on the market according to Vincent Lee, Public Relations manager for FocalPrice.

“7 inch may be a little small for tablet PCs while 10.1 inch tablet is a little large, something like a computer. 9.7 inch is exactly to the point,” said Mr. Lee.

The design and performance of these Android 2.3 tablets are on a par with any brand name tablets on the market according to Mr. Lee.

“Not every one can afford that steep price of the iPad 2 and Samsung tablets. It is brand effect that makes the price double most of the time. Adopting Samsung CPU and Android 2.3 Flash 10.3, those no-brand tablet PCs can match those brand name tablet PCs on performance. Without brand effect, FocalPrice hopes that those products on FocalPrice are accessible to people from all over the world,” said Mr. Lee.

FocalPrice is one of China's leading online consumer goods stores, with over 70,000 items across almost 100 categories including consumer electronics, computer accessories, video games, iPod & iPhone accessories, flashlight and communications products on the shelves with affordable prices and worldwide free shipping service for all products. All the products have gone through three standard quality control processes before delivery and a six month guarantee on all items on FocalPrice.

An official Android 2.3.5 update for Samsung Galaxy S is leaked

The Samsung Galaxy S might be old news already, but it hasn't been forgotten by its maker just yet. A firmware update for the previous flagship of the Korean company, which brings its Android version number to 2.3.5 just surfaced online.

What we have here is a Samsung-written ROM, but it's not an official release so if you want to try it now, you’d be doing it at your own risk. Leaked ROMs like this one are usually relatively stable, at least as far as unofficial releases go. But the flashing process itself involves some risk, not to mention that it voids your warranty.

Coming with the fancy I9000XXJVS name, the latest Galaxy S ROM has its build date set to September 8th and brings the SGS Android version to 2.3.5. Early adopters haven't reported major changes brought by the new ROM, but if you want, you may install it and take a look yourselves.
how to upgrade samsung galaxy s firmware to 2.3.5
You will find the Google-translated instructions on how to get it up and running on your Galaxy S over at the source link below. Once again, everything depends on you. The risk and glory- both are yours.

Samsung Galaxy Note tops on benchmark sheet, same for price tag too

Samsung Galaxy Note is one of the most impressive devices shown in IFA 2011. Now we found another significant point of Galaxy Note. Techblog.gr managed to run the Quadrant benchmark on a unit at the IFA and got some impressive scores. The Galaxy Note managed to snag a score of 3,624. To put that figure into perspective, the Galaxy S II with a 1.2GHz processor achieved 3,538 in our tests. One must also remember that along with a faster processor, the Galaxy Note also has a 1280 x 800 resolution display, with nearly 2.5 times the number of pixels on the Galaxy S II's display. Also, the Galaxy Note at the IFA are probably pre-production units and the scores could improve later on. This means you can expect some pretty solid performance from the Galaxy Note when it launches by the end of the year.
Samsung galaxy note release date
But you will be very much disappointed to hear the price. Samsung has announced the price for the Scandinavian countries and it doesn't look good. The Galaxy Note will be sold in Denmark in November for 5,600 Danish krone, which is approximately $1,066 (€750). Meanwhile, Norway will be getting it for 5,700 Norwegian krone ($1,052, €742), Sweden will get it for 6,000 Swedish krona ($929, €655) and Finland will get it for €799 ($1,133).

That price takes the Galaxy Note beyond the realm of smartphones and into tablet territory. In fact it is more expensive than even the most expensive iPad 2 ($829), which is where the problem comes in as the Galaxy Note cannot match full-fledged tablets like the iPad 2 or the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in terms of screen real estate. It will already be alienating smartphone buyers looking for something more compact. And now with a price like this, it remains to be seen who and how many will actually buy this device.

Here is a hands on YouTube video showing you inside the Samsung Galaxy Note. To see the complete Samsung Galaxy Note specifications click here.

Rugged Samsung Galaxy Xcover design and construction

In my last post i wrote about Samsung Galaxy Xcover features and specifications. In this post i am going to write about its design and constructions. As a rugged smartphone which is water-shock-dust proof, it is very important for Samsung to make the design perfect. It must combination of beauty and toughness. I followed GSMArena preview article to write this feature.

Samsung galaxy Xcover has a 3.7-inch display with a reinforced exterior, Xcover is by no means a compact handset at 122 x 66 x 12 mm. It’s reasonably slim and weighs only 116 g, thanks to its body being all-plastic.
is samsung galaxy xcover body completely waterproof?
The Galaxy Xcover has a traditional touchscreen bar design and offers good grip due to the special cuts at the sides and the rubbery finish. There are three hardware buttons:- Menu, Home and Back. They are slightly raised and should be specially designed to be water tight.

The 3.65" HVGA 320x480 pixels 16M-color capacitive touchscreen is multi-touch enabled and has a toughened Gorilla Glass up front for maximum scratch-resistance. The screen quality is questionable, with a dim and watery look. Brightness is below par and colors look dull and washed out. It's very responsive though.

Above the display, there’s a proximity sensor to disable the screen during calls and what appears to be an ambient light sensor. Our unit didn't have auto screen brightness enabled but that could be due to its pre-market status. We can't confirm or deny an ambient light sensor at this point.

The right side of the phone has those grip-enhancing cuts in the rubberized plastic. There is a single control on this side: the power/lock button. It is reasonably big and has a good press.

The left side of the phone is where the volume rocker is. There's an etched flashlight icon suggesting you can use the LED flash at the back as a torch but our unit didn’t have this feature enabled. This side of the phone is ribbed too.
can samsung galaxy xcover power and volume button resist water?
The top of the device is where the 3.5mm headphone jack is. It's covered by a plastic lid, which however doesn't seem to fit tight enough, raising doubts about the level of waterproofing. But we guess that will only be an issue with this pre-production unit.

The MicroUSB port is placed at the bottom of the Galaxy Xcover and is too covered with a plastic lid.
how waterpfoor samsung galaxy xcover headphone and usb ports are?
The patterned back panel has a special lock at the bottom to keep it tightly in place. The rough texture gives a good grip. There are four tiny cushions in each corner on which the phone rests when placed flat on its back. The camera lens and LED flash are located at the top of the panel and there's the grill of a very powerful loudspeaker on the right.

Removing the back cover is no easy task. Beneath the cover you can see the 1500mAh Li-Ion battery, the MicroSD card slot and the SIM compartment. We couldn't do a dedicated battery test, which was going to be inconclusive anyway with a pre-release unit. Details on the battery life will have to wait for a proper review of the Galaxy Xcover.
galaxy xcover back cover design
The Galaxy Xcover has a good sturdy build and feels very comfortable in the hand. The rubberized finish on the sides of the phone minimizes the plastic feel and enhances the grip. And you won't have to worry about fingerprints, except on the screen, as there are no glossy bits. The Gorilla Glass display also inspires confidence and you won’t probably need additional protection.

We did set out to do some stress testing on the Galaxy Xcover as we were eager to check out the level of proofing it offers. Sadly, our tests ended very shortly. Our pre-market sample wasn't obviously fully prepared to take more than a couple of hits.

Drops from half a meter onto solid ground didn’t scare it at all, but a dip in a glass of water was the end of it. So, at this point the whole IP67 certification doesn’t hold water. We are hoping that the final release version of the phone will have better luck.

Rugged Samsung Galaxy Xcover feature review

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover brings a touch of class and authority to a lineup of durable dumb phones for the outdoor enthusiasts. This rugged smartphone is trying to combine the best of both worlds. The Galaxy Xcover is Samsung’s response to Motorola, who are building their own squad of tough droids, with a 1GHz Gingerbread-powered update of their Defy due for imminent release. The Defy+ could be too strong a rival, but the rugged credentials will certainly help the Galaxy Xcover stand out in the crowded smartphone midrange.

The Samsung S5690 Galaxy Xcover runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, with the home-baked TouchWiz skin on top. It looks the part too with rugged, ribbed sides and a grippy rear panel with a massive lock screw to keep the battery cover in place.

It's an IP67 certified droid, meaning it can be immersed in one meter of water and last there for half an hour, on top of being dust-proof and shock-resistant. Ruggedness aside, it offers a 3.65" HVGA display with tempered Gorilla Glass for maximum protection and durability. It does well to meet, and exceed, the minimum smartphone requirements with solid connectivity, the latest flavor of Android and reasonably fast processing.
how tough samsung galaxy xcover really is?
