Panasonic making Android phone for world market

Panasonic withdrew themselves from mobile phone business in Europe and China back in 2005 because of extreme competition. Now they are planning to join in the smartphone race again with Android. According to the latest news Panasonic is going to release a 13.2 megapixel Lumix cameraphone to European market in the next spring season. They also have the plan to enter North America along with the rest of the Asia too.

But the phone they are planning to release is quite awkward to see. Its normal in Japan I think but they must work on this. We don’t know any specs of the lumix phone or price yet.

Google promises a bug-fix for the UK Galaxy Nexus volume control problem

Many of UK Samsung Galaxy Nexus owners report a bug which caused the device to change the volume on its own due to interference with radio frequencies on the 900MHz band. And many people believe this is a problem with Galaxy Nexus hardware. But it seems Google disagree with you. Google just said that they will be issuing a software update for it.
how to solve volume problem in samsung galaxy nexus
Here is the full statement from Google regarding the matter:
We are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix. We will update devices as soon as possible.
The update will be delivered through a software patch. At first many people thoughts Google is going to replace phones too but it turned out wrong assumption. But Google is not telling us the bug fix release date.

If you’re in the US, you don’t have much to worry about because the rogue frequency band that causes the issue is not used by US carriers. So you can use the Galaxy Nexus brought from UK without any trouble in US.

white samsung galaxy s ii difference from black one

The white Samsung Galaxy S II will seemingly be using a different kind of plastic. If the official photos are anything to go by, it will be built from some new glossy plastic, rather than the opaque one used on the black version. The white version of the international Galaxy S II had to go glossy, too. The thing is, white opaque plastic would be too easy to get all messed up and too hard to clean.

Adobe will release Flash Player for Ice Cream Sandwich, last on the list

If you have one of few Samsung Galaxy Nexus in your hand running latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich, you can already discover that it is not supporting flash content any more using. It's not a hardware issue limited to that model, the problem lies with the software - Flash doesn’t support ICS yet. And we heard Adobe that they were saying that they will not release any further Flash Player update for Android. But the situation is changed.

Adobe is expected to release an update by the end of the year that will add support for Ice Cream Sandwich to Android's Flash player. With this info Adobe gives us something more to hear- next major Android version isn't getting official Flash support. Which coincides with Adobe's updated strategy for mobile devices that calls for HTML5 to replace Flash.
flash player for Android

This is the official Adobe statement-
Adobe will release one more version of the Flash Player for mobile browsing, which will provide support for Android 4.0, and one more release of the Flash Linux Porting Kit - both expected to be released before the end of this year.
Note that this is only for the Flash plug-in for browsers. Developers will still be able to use Adobe's technologies to create apps and games for mobile devices through Adobe AIR. That will go on with a focus on console-like gaming (including 3D). Flash for the desktop will also see continued development. Earlier Adobe said that they will not release any further Flash Player update for mobile. Its good to see that they don’t like to keep their word!

Samsung Galaxy Nexus beats iPhone 4S in every browser test

With the new Google phone, Samsung Galaxy Nexus the first one to be delivered with Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich is on the door- everybody is comparing it with Apple new iPhone 4S. The Galaxy Nexus hardware platform isn't too fast comparing other dual-core Android phones. TI was chosen as the launch silicon partner with its OMAP 4460. The SoC takes a pair of Cortex A9 CPUs running at 1.2GHz and gives them a dual-channel LPDDR2 memory interface to talk to. The GPU is Imagination Technologies' PowerVR SGX 540. The CPU side of things is comparable to Apple's A5, although the cores are clocked noticeably higher than the 800MHz we saw in the iPhone 4S.

But the Galaxy Nexus’s true power is its software, brand new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. All of the goodness of Honeycomb makes its way to a handset along with even further optimization work. One of the early Galaxy Nexus owners ran the usual browser benchmarks on his phone and shared the results with us. Google has obviously done a lot of browser optimization in ICS as performance is now better than even Honeycomb. And Anandtech is happy to show us the result.

The Google phone was put through a pair of browsing benchmarks--Sunspider Javascript Benchmark 0.9.1 and Rightware Browsermark--and it came out with the top results in both cases, ahead of the Droid RAZR running Gingerbread and iPhone 4S running iOS 5, which swapped turns in the 2nd and 3rd place spots.

Christmas Technology Must Haves

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, but before the snow comes down you will need to get some serious shopping done in order to make sure everyone is happy come December 25th. Those struggling for ideas as to what they should buy tech-loving relatives should check out some of the following gadgets which will be big sellers this holiday season.

HTC Sensation XL
The top end of the Android smartphone market is awash with great mobiles this year, so picking between them can be quite tricky. The Sensation XL stands out from the crowd thanks to its large screen and impressive audio functions provided by the Dr Dre-sanctioned Beats. Its 4.7 inch touchscreen display is one of the biggest on the market, outdoing the original Sensation by almost half an inch and giving you loads of space when you want to browse the web or watch videos. 16GB of onboard storage space gives you plenty of room to download music and applications while the single core 1.5GHz processor is fast enough to run everything smoothly without chewing through your battery and requiring that you make a premature return to the plug socket.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9
If the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a little too large for your liking then the 8.9 inch display of this edition might be a better fit. It offers improved battery life and a lighter build when compared to its larger sibling but still retains the excellent implementation of Android 3.0 and a powerful dual core processor to echo the speed and seamlessness of the user experience. Cameras on the front and rear, solid web connectivity and an excellent browser along with a form factor that gives you more space to work with than seven inch tablets round off the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 in style.

Asus Zenbook UX21
While some might argue that tablets are confidently killing off traditional low-powered laptops, the Zenbook UX21 from Asus proves that there are still plenty of reasons to choose this traditional form of portable computer. This is part of a range of Windows 7 laptops which are intended to take on the Apple MacBook Air, opting for very slim chassis and premium quality materials in order to put the emphasis on style. A 1.6GHz Intel Core i5 processor and a solid state hard drive with 126GB of storage space make this laptop close to the top of its class in terms of performance. It only has an 11 inch screen but it is about as far removed from a netbook as it is possible to get, so should make many users very happy indeed.

If you are shopping for technology must-haves this Christmas then it will be sensible to use Comet vouchers or the discounts available at other online retailers because you can get the same choice and convenience but at a lower price.

HTC’s dual-core 1.5Ghz monster Sensation XE is out in the wild

When the original HTC Sensation launched just a few months ago it was one of the most powerful smartphones on the planet. Now its Taiwanese creators have gone back into the lab and created the Sensation XE, a successor which puts the emphasis on excellent audio playback as well as an increase in power.

The `XE` stands for Extreme Edition and there is little doubt that this rings true. Its dual core processor is clocked at 1.5GHz, outpacing the 1.2GHz chip found on the original Sensation. It retains the same 4.3 inch display with a resolution of 540x960 and the SLCD technology makes the screen bright, vibrant and easy to view from most angles.

The Sensation XE has support for Beats audio technology. The company behind Beats was purchased by HTC and so it has gone about adding red detailing and bespoke in-ear headphones to this smartphone in order to give music lovers and audiophiles something to shout about.
HTC Sensation XE unlocked contract free price
The exterior of the phone has been finished to a high quality, with brushed metal and premium plastics featuring on the rear and the Beats logo sitting proudly on the battery cover. It is still not as slender as alternatives like the Samsung Galaxy S2 and it is even a little heavier than its predecessor at 151 grams but it is still a well-designed, solid-feeling smartphone.

Android 2.3 is onboard and it gets the usual HTC treatment thanks to the Sense 3.0 user interface which enhances the widgets and overhauls the homescreens for added finger-friendly fun. The processor speed increase makes multitasking and web browsing feel as flawless as ever and the Sense graphical niceties, such as the 3D effect when flicking between homescreens, never miss a beat. Meanwhile the upgraded battery means that it will not leave you searching for a plug socket after a few hours of moderate use.

Photography is handed by the eight megapixel rear-facing camera with dual LED flash. By harnessing the power of the processor the HTC Sensation XE can record video footage at full HD 1080p resolutions.

Perhaps one of the biggest reasons to invest in the HTC Sensation XE is the fact that it will remain relevant and reliable for at least another year. Android 4.0 will eventually be brought out in the form of an update for this handset and the processor is still largely untapped by current software, so there is room for the platform to develop and grow without leaving the phone in its wake. The Beats audio features will definitely appeal to people who want to replace their standalone portable media player and the inclusion of excellent headphones as part of the basic package has to be praised in a market where this is typically a cut corner.

Budget friendly Orange San Francisco 2 is coming soon

The Orange San Francisco 2 was rumored to be on the cards earlier this month but now the network provider has confirmed its impending release, which is good news for fans of low cost, high powered Android smartphones. Despite the San Francisco 2 retaining the budget price tag of its predecessor, it will actually be getting a number of hardware upgrades to make sure that it is a worthy replacement.

An 800MHz processor is set to be onboard, giving you a speed boost of 200MHz when compared to the First Orange San Francisco, also known as the ZTE Blade in its SIM free iteration.

The digital camera has been upgraded to five megapixels and there is even an intelligent signal boosting technology which allows the phone to utilize your Wi-Fi connection in order to get better reception when you are indoors, which is a nice touch.
Latest Mobile News and Reviews
Preinstalled on the Orange San Francisco 2 is Android 2.3, so users will be able to head to the Android Market and download a wide array of applications without being restricted by their software version. It is unlikely that this handset will be updated to run Android 4.0 due to the limitations of its hardware, but this should not be a concern for users who are on a tight budget.

One of the best features of the original San Francisco was its 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen display. This is because prior to its launch most entry level smartphones had relied on cheaper, smaller resistive screens.

The San Francisco 2 has an identical 3.5 inch display with a resolution of 800x480 and while it may not be as bright or vibrant as the screens on range-topping Android handsets it is still an excellent inclusion for the price.

The scalability and flexibility of Android is demonstrated by handsets like the Orange San Francisco 2. It shows that you do not have to spend large amounts of cash to get the full smartphone experience and enables pay as you go customers who are not in need of a fixed term contract to download apps, surf the web and take high quality pictures with the freedom to pay only for what they use.

Another budget Android phone from Orange and ZTE called the Monte Carlo arrived recently, retaining the same Android build but using a larger 4.3 inch display to differentiate itself from the San Francisco 2. This is an equally worthy choice for mobile fans who want to cut down on their monthly costs, although its higher price and larger size may make the San Francisco 2 a better choice.

Android dominates 52% of mobile OS market

The number of people activating Android smartphones on a global scale has risen significantly this year, allowing Google`s operating system to account for 52 per cent of the market according to the latest figures. This time last year about 25 per cent of mobiles sold had Android onboard, but with 60 million Android smartphones sold in 2011 it is soaring ahead of its closes rivals. Apple`s iOS accounted for 15 per cent of the market in the latest round of results, which is a drop of 1.6 per cent compared with last year. This means that the 17 million mobiles Apple sold was not enough to scratch the surface of Android`s ongoing dominance.

Other rivals to Google were similarly affected, with Research in Motion (RIM) losing four per cent of its market share as people migrate from BlackBerry smartphones over to Android handsets.

Of course the figures need to be taken with some sense of perspective. Apple deals primarily in top of the line smartphones, while Android is available on bargain basement handsets as well as cutting edge mobiles, allowing it to target a wider audience. In addition Apple had to delay the iPhone 4S until the autumn, which means many of its potential customers are thought to have held off making a purchase until much later in the year, skewing the figures as a result according to Gartner analyst Roberta Cozza.
latest mobile os market share apple vs android
While 2011 was an intriguing year for the mobile market in which Android made leaps and bounds, with more than half a million devices being activated each day, 2012 could see even further alterations to the way in which consumers buy smartphones. The launch of Android 4.0 is going to usher in a new era of range-topping mobiles with quad core processors and high definition displays. The dual core Samsung Galaxy Nexus is just the first of this movement.

Meanwhile the recent launch of Nokia`s first Windows Phone 7 handsets and its move away from the ailing Symbian operating system could present a new challenge for Google, if the Finnish firm can get a grasp on the market.

The rise of Android handsets and the fall of the previous front runners show the volatile nature of the market and the way in which fortunes can change in a matter of months. The affordability and availability of deals on HTC mobiles is allowing a mainstream audience to invest in smartphones which do just as much as iPhone handsets, but at a more palatable price point.

Funny LG Update in next week for Optimus 3D, time for Gingerbread

It’s a total shame for the LG Optimus 3D customers. Its surely one of the best Android running smartphones out there. But it’s the time for Gingerbread only for them! It will be released by LG officially in the next week. The update brings not only the usual set on Gingerbread enhancements over Froyo but a number of extra improvements too, like faster data speeds and improved multimedia experience. This Android 2.3 update will push the download speeds over 3G with HSPA+ to 21Mbps (over 14.4Mbps). The upload speed of the LG Optimus 3D will remain 5.76Mbps.

The 2D video camera, which shoots up to 1080p, receives the same image stabilization functionality that the 3D video camera has with the current software. The Gingerbread update will also improve the video recording quality a little.
Android 2.3 firmware for LG Optimus 3D
There's a new 3D Video Editor, which as the name suggests will let users edit their 3D videos right on the device. You can also edit regular 2D videos there. Startup time for the Gallery app on the LG Optimus 3D has been reduced. LG Optimus 3D MP3 playback time will increase too.

The update will begin its rollout next week in Europe for unlocked phones, other markets will follow suit by the end of the year. While LG Optimus 2X customers are looking for Android Ice Cream Sandwich, so Gingerbread for Optimus 3D is not a good move for LG I think.

GSMArena tests Samsung Galaxy Note battery life- we have mixture feelings

Samsung’s new Phone or Tablet smart device, Samsung Galaxy Nexus is just tested by GSMArena teams. They tested its huge 2500 mAh battery under there standard procedure. Because Galaxy Note has a 5.3-inch screen with some very powerful hardware inside, it uses a lot of juice to run. The Samsung Galaxy Note’s performance was quite unusual. While it got a monstrous score on the telephony part, its web browsing endurance were quite disappointing.
can i use samsung galaxy note 1 day on one single charge?
The Samsung Galaxy Note turned out the best performer when you are talking. It has 12 hours and 47 minutes of 3G talk time on a single charge. The result wasn’t that surprising though – with the screen turned off, the power consumption of the Galaxy Note isn’t higher than that of the average smartphone, but the battery is much larger here.

Next they tested the web browsing time. The Note managed just 3 hours and 35 minutes of continuous browsing, which some way off the standard is set by the iPhone 4S and Nokia N9. As most of the web pages are predominantly white, the 5.3″ screen turned into a power-leeching beast that’s hard to feed. So it is the stage of the Galaxy Note’s worst performance.

The great power hunger is also partially due to the GPU-acceleration of the browser. If you are willing to trade the stock browser for one of the alternatives found on the Android Market you would see worse performance, but slightly better battery life. When they tested it with Opera Mobile then the Galaxy Note lasted for 4 hours.

The Samsung Galaxy Note restored some of its pride in the last challenge – the video playback test. It used 90% of its battery after 8 hours and 25 minutes of looping the SD Xvid video. It’s not bad result for a 5.3-inch display runner.

Finally, and most importantly the Samsung Galaxy Note got an endurance rating of 39, which means that you will have to be plug it in every 39 hours if you do 1 hour of using the stock web browser, 3G calls and video playback every day. It is now quite as impressive as the 45 hours achieved by the iPhone 4S.

Thanks to for their detailed Samsung Galaxy Note battery test. It will definitely help a lot of people to buy Galaxy Note or not.

If you are interested to buy new Samsung Galaxy Note then Amazon can help you to save your money. They are offering unlocked Galaxy Note only for $543 which is almost $357 less than others. Moreover its the unlocked international version of the Galaxy Note.

Last Flash Player for Android is released, security updates only from now on

Adobe released Adobe Flash Player as their last major update to the Flash Player update for Android devices on November 13th. The new update brought, “performance improvements and bug fixes related to security and stability”. According to Adobe security patches is all that Android users should expect to see from them for the Adobe Flash Player plugin for Android.

Adobe executive in charge of interactive development, Danny Winokur, said in a blog post, “We will of course continue to provide critical bug fixes and security updates for existing device configurations”.

Earlier this week reports hit the Internet that Adobe would be ditching their pursuit for Flash Player on mobile devices, Adobe later confirmed those reports in a blog post where the company said they would be focusing on HTML5 and Adobe Air apps going forward.

Speaking of Adobe Air the Android specific version of that piece of software has also been updated too. The new Adobe AIR released promises, “performance improvements and bug fixes related to security and stability”, pretty much what the Adobe Flash Player update promises. With Adobe Air Android users can run AIR apps, those apps don’t require your browser but that’s where you’ll have to go find them initially.

Adobe Flash Player 11.1 update is now available for Android

Contrary to popular belief, Adobe does not dislike HTML and the Adobe Flash Player for Android, BlackBerry PlayBook 11.1 update is going to be the last from the company. Since major mobile devices happen to be offering support for HTML5, it is apparently the best solution for content distribution across mobile platforms.

All of this works out to the headlines that Adobe is going the HTML5 way and the guys over at Apple are probably sitting around sporting smug smiles across their faces. Well, it’s been coming for quite some time now and it was just back in July this year when ABI pronounced that ‘the disappearance of Flash is close than people think’, while predicting that 2.1 billion HTML5 browsers would make it to mobile devices by 2016.
best flash player for android mobile
“Part of Adobe’s story is enabling cross-platform solutions, but since Flash has never been supported on iOS, we weren’t able to deliver on that vision in the context of mobile browsers. With mobile browsers as good as they are now (the ICS browser looks amazing, and mobile Safari has always been awesome), it just makes more sense to use HTML,” says Christian Cantrell, Adobe AIR Application Developer, Product Manager.

So in defense of Adobe, Cupertino never really gave it a chance of establishing any sort of ubiquity across mobile platforms owing to the lack of support for Flash on iOS devices. The official Adobe blog insists that the company will work with big names in the HTML community including Google, Apple, Microsoft and RIM over advancing this emerging web standard for the mobile platform.

Ice Cream Sandwich source code is now available

We have been for this for a long time. Mobile phone manufacturers and app developers are waiting for the source code of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich after the announcement of ICS on October. Now the waiting is over. Google has finally released the source code for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This means developers will soon be able to get the latest update running on their Android devices. If you don’t know the how to do it then you could just wait for your favorite custom ROM to be made available in Ice Cream Sandwich flavor.

The code is actually the 4.0.1 update, the exact same one that the Galaxy Nexus will be running on. This code will have to be modified in order to run on other devices. It also comes with a full history of the Android source code tree. Keep in mind that Honeycomb source code is not released so far. So it’s clear that Google wants developers to concentrate on Ice Cream Sandwich.
Download android 4.0 ics source code free from google

So it is expected that we will hear a lot about devices running Ice Cream Sandwich in the next few weeks. But before we get all excited, there are a few things to note. Google is saying that the code is still being pushed due to its large size and if synced at the moment it will end up being useless. Their advice is to wait for them to tell you when it's ready to sync.

How to improve your Android phone battery life

As the mobile phone will getting richer with many new features, it will definitely need more juice that past. Comparing with other improvements, smartphones battery department is lagging some steps behind. Now a days it is more important for a user to save his phone’s battery life when he is out of home. So in this article i will show you only a few tips how to improve your Android phone battery life.

At first i am telling you something about today’s smartphone nature. Battery performance depends on many factors, including network configuration, signal strength, the temperature of the environment in which you operate your phone, the features and/or settings you select and use, items attached to connecting ports, and your usage patterns for voice, data and other programs.
how can i save mobile battery life when watching video
There are several things which can impact your smartphone’s battery life especially on 4G-
  • 4G smartphone have more radios to power like 3G, 4G, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS.
  • Latest smartphones have a larger screen than most typical feature phones.
  • Latest high-end phones have more capabilities of 3D graphics and processing power than most typical feature phones.
  • Management of multiple email accounts and syncing.
  • Wi-Fi access point.
  • Wi-Fi Router capability.
  • 4G data.
  • GPS.
  • Access to several third-party applications through the Android Market.
  • Many applications and Processes running in the background.
Because of all these capabilities and features, it is up to you to manage your battery life experience. Here's some tips for you-
Disable multiple radios
The multiple radios on your phone use battery life even when you are not using them. To improve battery life, turn off your Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and Mobile Hotspot if you are not using them.
Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks and disable any radios that are not in use
For easier control, you can add a widget to the Home screen for each radio function so you have simple one-touch access to enable or disable each of them.

Disable 4G
If you have your 4G radio ON, but are no longer in 4G coverage, then your device will be scanning in an attempt to re-acquire the 4G network. Your battery can be significantly drained by scanning, so if you know you will be out of 4G coverage for an extended period of time or if you are not acquiring a 4G signal as indicated in the task bar, it is important to turn your 4G radio OFF.

But there's something else you can do when you are under 4G signal. The 4G radio should only be turned on when the improved network speed is required for an application, such as YouTube, Web Browsing or Mobile Hotspot. When not in use, it's important to use the built-in 4G widget to turn the 4G radio OFF.

Even when in 4G markets, particularly when mobile, you may be going in and out of 4G coverage. If you notice that you do not have a 4G signal at any point in time, turning off the 4G radio will save you significant battery life. Simply turn it back on to check for 4G coverage when you are back in 4G coverage.

Manage Live Wallpaper
Live Wallpapers use more battery power when the screen is turned on. Change to a static wallpaper by going to Personalize > Wallpaper and choosing a static wallpaper in wallpapers or Gallery

Manage Display Brightness
To manage the screen brightness, go to Settings > Display > Brightness and modify the backlight setting as desired; the less bright the screen, the more battery life you save.

Manage Screen-On Time
When done using the phone, turn the screen off to help preserve battery life. Just quickly tap the Power button on the top edge of the device to power off the screen; the phone will remain powered on but the screen will go dark.

See Your Battery Usage
Before you charge your phone, you can view what has been using your battery during this charge cycle. So do not charge your phone when it has enough charge for a while.

Email Applications Settings
You can modify your email settings to download email more or less frequently, as it fits your needs. Usually Higher email download frequency takes up more battery life.
From your email inbox, press Menu > More > Settings > Send & Receive

Preloaded Applications update interval
There are preloaded applications which update based on frequency settings, such as Weather and Peep. These applications have a settings menu that typically can be accessed by using the Menu button while you are in the application. In the settings menu there is an item called Update Schedule.
Menu > Settings > Update Schedule (this may slightly vary from App to App)

In general, the less frequently you allow these applications to update, the better your battery life. If you find there are applications you don't use at all, for the best battery life experience, configure the application to either not sync at all or to sync at the lowest frequency. You can also end the application or service by using the Task Manager application (All Applications > Task Manager).

Manage Google Talk
When you sign up for the Google Market or Gmail with your Gmail account information, you are also signed in to the Google Talk instant messaging application. The Talk application tracks the presence of your Google Talk contacts in order to let you know who is available to instant message. Each presence change uses power, even if you do not have the Talk application open.

If you do not use Talk on your device or do not mind if it is only operating when you actually have the application open, then you can eliminate this extra battery consumption:
Press Menu then tap All apps > Talk > Menu > Settings

Uncheck the automatically sign in box
Make sure you exit the application by going to Menu and selecting Sign Out
In order to again receive Instant Messages through the Talk application, all you'll need to do is open the Talk application again and it will automatically sign you in.

Note: Make sure you always exit the application by selecting Sign Out to reduce battery consumption. Exiting the application by use of the back or home keys will not sign you out and battery life will not be improved.

Exit GPS Navigator
When finished with your GPS Navigator, return to the main screen of GPS Navigator then tap Menu > Exit > Yes to close the program. If you don't do this, it will continue running in the background and use a significant amount of battery life.

Manage Third-Party Applications
Be especially cautious with all third-party applications that you download from the Android Market. Often times these applications have not been designed with battery life in mind. Many of these applications significantly impact your battery life and quite often they remain running even when you exit the application. It's important for you to understand the behavior of all the applications you download and:

Know how to close the application so that it does not continue running; you can often do this by pressing the Menu key while in the application.

Learn how to use the Task Manager application or other third-party task managers to identify applications that are still running even when not in use and to end applications that are still running but no longer needed.

All applications > Task Manager
If the applications synchronize data, make sure you optimize the synchronization settings for improved battery life.
