Google announces $199 7-inch Nexus tablet

Google officially announced the Nexus 7 tablet at the Google I/O Developer Conference in San Francisco. As the name suggests, the Google Nexus 7 features a 7" IPS display with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. The tablet is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 chip with 1GB of RAM and 12 core ultra-low voltage nVidia GeForce GPU.

Despite of capable hardware, Google managed to keep the price of the Nexus 7 impressively low. The slate will come in 8GB and 16GB versions, which will be sold for $199 and $249 respectively. Asus is making Nexus 7 tablet for Google. Sadly, there isn’t a 3G model available, but obviously keeping the price as low as possible was key here. Measuring 198.5 x 120 x 10.5 mm the 7-incher weighs in at 340 grams which is respectful for its size.
google nexus 7 tablet review
The Google Nexus 7 comes with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity and Google Wallet preinstalled. That's also the reason there isn't a camera at the back, and only a 1.2MP front-facing snapper. However, it's capable of shooting 720p video, so it's not all bad.

The Google Nexus 7 is already available for pre-order in UK, US, Canada and Australia and should ship in mid July. You can follow this link to book your Nexus 7 unit. More countries will follow soon.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is now official

We have Ice Cream Sandwich on our hand not for a long time but there is already a new version of Android operating system is announced by Google yesterday at Google I/O 2012. It will be known as Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Jelly Bean is not a complete new version of Android OS like the predecessor ICS, it mainly focuses on performance and stability. Google has dedicated a whole project codenamed Butter to improving Android performance.

By making the vsync of the screen at a constant 60 frames per second, it makes the UI smoother than ever. Google showed two Galaxy Nexus smartphones, one running Ice Cream Sandwich and the other Jelly Bean to demonstrate the huge difference that Project Butter makes. It's really quite impressive.
Android jelly bean ne feature list
Jelly Bean brings new UI and gestures to camera, so you can swipe sideways to access the gallery. You can then quickly delete images by swiping them off the screen. The notification bar has also seen its fair share of changes. It shows you a more prominent looking clock and allows notifications from various apps like Music, Pulse and Gmail to be expanded to give you more details without having to open the app.

The keyboard typing is also improved, with better and more accurate predictive input and extended dictionary. On top of that, Voice Typing in now available offline. This means that it no longer requires data connection to work and its performance won't be affected by its slow speed.

A developer SDK preview available right now on the Android Developers website. Jelly Bean will be rolling out to Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and Xoom devices in mid-July, along with the open source code. New Google Nexus 7 tablet will also ship in July with Android 4.1 inside.

Top 5 reasons for choosing a pre-paid SIM

For most of us, 2012 is proving to be a financially challenging year so far. We’re having to tighten our belts, and find increasingly creative ways to make our monthly wage stretch little further.

For some people that means sacrificing luxuries and cutting back on purchasing new technology; including pricey cell contracts.

Step in the pre paid SIM!

But what is a Pre-paid SIM deal? How does it work and is it the right option?

SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module and is an integrated circuit that stores the International Subscriber Identity (IMSI). It is the key used to identify and authenticate mobile telephony subscribers and sits at the heart of every cell; securely storing important information that can be quickly and easily accessed.

On some networks the cell phone is locked to its carrier SIM, meaning that only the specific phone providers SIM will work. This is the case in most ‘contracted’ deals that require a user to stay with a provider for a specified period of time.
However, there are several companies that offer a SIM lock removal service, making it possible to use the phone on any network by inserting a different SIM card.

The benefits include:

1. No credit checks
Remember that bill you forgot to pay three years ago? Well, even if you don’t, the credit agencies will! However, when purchasing a pre-paid SIM, none of this matters, as they won’t be checking your credit file. You simply enter the SIM into the phone of your choice, and you could be texting your pals in a matter of minutes.

The Vodafone Promo Codes site has several SIM only deals that are worth checking out!

2. Good for Teenagers
A pre paid SIM takes most of the worry out of your teen owning, (and using) a mobile. There will be no expectedly high bill at the end of the month because they’ve lost track of time when talking to their friends. It can also be used as an incentive for getting them to do jobs around the house, in order to earn additional credit.

3. Emergencies Only
A pre paid SIM is a great option for anyone wanting the peace of mind owning a cell gives, without being tied into a lengthy contract that you have to pay whether you use the phone or not.

4. No Lengthy Contracts
With the average cell phone contract lasting between 18-24 months, a pre paid SIM offers you the freedom and flexibility contracts (post paid deals) don’t. This is particularly tempting if you like to regularly change your phone or are unsure of your financial situation for the next couple years, maybe because of having a baby or thinking of changing jobs.

5. No need to back up data
SIM cards store all your important information in one safe, central location. If you like to regularly change your phone, there is no need to continuously back up or write down your contacts.

Galaxy Tabs will receive Android ICS from July

Samsung is just weeks away from unleashing Android 4.0 ICS for their Galaxy Tabs. This process will start in July and continues till August. According to SamMobile, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7, and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus are on the list of upgradable phones. But unfortunately for Samsung Galaxy tab owners, by the time the rollout starts ICS probably won’t be the newest Android release anymore. Google’s I/O event is scheduled to start on July 27 and we’ll probably see Jelly Bean debut at the keynote speech.

ICS for Sony Tablet P is on the roll

Sony Tablet P is not the device we all talk about often but it has some awesome features from the starting. Now with the new Android ICS 4.0.3 update available, its become more desirable now. Back in March, Sony had announced that its two tablets, the Tablet S and the Tablet P, will be getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update by April. But Sony is 2 months late to deliver ICS to Tablet P.

The new update has all the new features of Ice Cream Sandwich such as a new lockscreen, homescreen folders, new Gallery app, improved multitasking, improved web browser, built-in screenshot facility, etc. It also adds a unique ‘Small Apps’ feature exclusive to Sony tablets, that puts small widget like apps such as calculator on your screen while you are in another app, so you don’t have to switch apps to access the calculator.

1st OTA update hit Samsung Galaxy S III to make it more stable

Samsung Galaxy S III is only a few days old and already receives its first update from Samsung. Samsung has only listed "improved stability" in the change log for the OTA update. And with the Galaxy S III being pretty stable to begin with, it's hardly surprising that the user experience hasn't changed dramatically.

Samsung Galaxy S III is yet to show its face in US and Canada. So before hitting one of the largest markets, Samsung Galaxy S III is being already monitored closely by Sammy, which is a good news.

Samsung Galaxy S II vs Galaxy S III: Which one is for you

Some of you may wonder what the necessity of this kind of topics is. But I am sure many of you would like to read this kind of articles to see the changes in technology over the year. But my vision is not that. I am looking forward for those people who have the money of buying Samsung Galaxy S II but they wish they can buy Galaxy S III. So I am here to compare this two Android beast head to head and try to take one winner, obviously no looking at the feature, I will do it by comparing feature with price. I hope you can understand what I am doing!

Without any doubt Samsung Galaxy S III is much better than its predecessor. But you have to understand that its one years old. In today’s advancing technological world 1 year is like a century! You can’t make a list about the changes over the year. And the price is declining day by day of a new hardware. So let’s begin.
Samsung galaxy iii disadvantages and problems
The entire Galaxy series phone have same feature. They are the jewel of the year by Android. Samsung always make this happen. Every time they release a Galaxy phone, they made sure that it has the entire state of the art feature with some new and innovative hardware and software design. That’s what makes galaxy series best of the best. You must be surprised to see every Galaxy phone features. So here I am. First writing about both phones features and spec sheets.

Samsung Galaxy S II main specifications-
  • 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU, Mali-400MP GPU, Exynos chipset, 1GB of RAM
  • 4.3" 16M-color Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen of WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) resolution
  • Dimensions are 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5 mm and 116 grams of weight
  • Quad-band GSM and quad-band 3G, 21 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA support
  • 8 MP wide-angle lens autofocus camera with LED flash, face, smile and blink detection

  • Quad-band GSM and quad-band 3G, 21 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA support

  • Charging MHL microUSB port with USB host and TV-out (1080p) support

I think it’s now wiser for me to write down some notes about Galaxy S III why it is superior to Galaxy S II.
  1. Quad-core processor, faster graphics
  2. .5 inch bigger 720p screen with great pixel density of 306 ppi
  3. Better viewing in bright sunlight
  4. Bluetooth 4.0 LE

drawbacks of samsung galaxy s iii
But it’s not the full picture. Though Samsung made Galaxy S II one year ago, but it has some quality feature which are still better than Samsung.
  1. 1GB of RAM, which is same as Galaxy S III
  2. 17 grams lighter than Galaxy S III
  3. Galaxy S III has no regular SIM slot, but Galaxy S II has
  4. Super AMOLED Plus screen which has a full set of subpixels
  5. Almost equally good camera with 1080 HD video recording
  6. And Galaxy S II is much cheaper than new Galaxy S III
I know that it’s quite unwise to compare two smartphone over a year age difference. But Samsung made their Galaxy S series smartphones with tons of features, older phones are better than most of the current phones in the market. So if you don’t have the money of buying Samsung Galaxy S III, don’t worry, just go for Galaxy S II.

If you are interested than Amazon is the best place around the world to order you Samsung Galaxy Android phones. Their best price for international unlocked Samsung Galaxy S II is only $442 now. Is your new iPad overheating?

The answer to the question about the new iPad overheating is Yes. Because, if you logically think it, then you will get the reasons about your answer automatically. As a computer user, you should know the basic difference between desktop and laptop. In addition, you should know that the desktop computer has a great heat dissipation capability whereas laptop has a lower heat dissipation capability. Moreover, the laptop is small whereas the desktop is big in size. The heat dissipation is very much dependable on the size of the gadget. Logically, the small sized gadget will overheat quickly and the big sized gadget will heat up steadily. Therefore, in this connection, the iPad overheating is quite justified. However, the case of iPad overheating is just a little above normal heating temperature. The reasons are discussed for your clarification.
how to resolve apple ipad 3 overheating problem
Size
Size does matter for overheating problem. In any small gadget will always have the lack of good ventilation features? So that the gadget will heat up quickly after a short period of uses. Actually, iPad is so slim that it is difficult for the gadget designer to make the ways for ample heat dissipation in the gadget. We should expect the better heat dissipation in the future iPad version from Apple.

CPU
Actually, Apple introduces the latest CPU technology for this version of iPad. So, that you should not misunderstand about the quality of the CPU. Moreover, this CPU is based on Apple A5X chip architecture. Therefore, as far as performance is concerned, it works like a charm. However, the overheating problem is not solely responsible for the CPU itself but others components have the same responsibility. You should remember that if you run the CPU for a long time, then it will generate the heat and it will cause overheating.

Wi-Fi
If the Wi-Fi connection is faulty in your premises, where you are going to use your iPad, then your iPad will definitely get overheating. The reason is that if the defective Wi-Fi system exists, then the iPad will automatically heat up in the short period. Therefore, it is better to use the good Wi-Fi connection or hotspot where you can access the internet for your iPad. So that there will be the least chance of overheating.

Games
Sometimes, if you run the high graphics games on your iPad for more than one hour, then you iPad will overheat quickly. It is better if you run it for the short period. So the iPad overheating problem will be minimized. And it will save your iPad's lifespan. For extra speed for any 3D game, the extra power will be needed. So, that the overheating is inevitable. If you are really a game freak, then it is better to try it on any desktop computer.

Power-supply
If you use the power adapter to run your iPad, then your iPad will run faster but it will increase the chance of overheating. Again, if you use a battery to operate your iPad, then it will have less chance of overheating due to the limitation of the battery specification.
Therefore, the habit of your iPad use will determine how much it will develop an overheating problem. However, in general you should use your iPad in a wise manner so that the overheating problem can be minimized in quick succession.

Time for Android ICS on Motorola Xoom

How many times I wrote that Motorola Xoom owners are one of the luckiest Android buyers on the planet? Now I have to write it for one more times. It’s now official that Verizon will push Android ice Cream Sandwich firmware to its Motorola Xoom tablet users from June 4th. That will bring the tablet up to Android 4.0.4, and add features like speech-to-text functionality, a customizable launch bar, a new built-in photo editor and the ability to dismiss notifications with a swipe.

Users can also customize the new launch bar as well as create folders to access frequently used apps from the homepage. There is a new built-in photo editor installed inside firmware allowing customers to crop and rotate photos, remove red eyes, add effects and correct levels of images. There are also some bug fixes there as usual.

Samsung will release two versions of Galaxy S III in Canada from 20 June

I already told you Samsung will release Galaxy S III in Canada from 20th of June from a leaked source. It’s now official with many more details without price only. There will be two variants of Galaxy S III in Canada- the LTE sporting SGH-i747 and the 42 Mbps HSPA+ flavored SGH-iT999. SGH-i747 will hit Bell Mobility, TELUS, Virgin Mobile, SaskTel and Rogers Wireless, while the iT999 will be available on Wind, Videotron and Mobilicity.

Samsung also modify many internal parts of Galaxy S III to meet the speedy networks of Canada. Both Galaxy S III versions will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 Chipset with two Krait CPU cores, clocked at 1.5GHz. Both the Galaxy S III will have 2GB of RAM, instead of one. The LTE version will come with a choice of 16GB or 32GB of built-in memory. On the other side the HSPA+ one will have to make do with a 16GB flavor only. All the other specs are same as original Galaxy S III I9300.
