Motorola cancels ICS updating for 3 devices

Motorola promised us back in February that they will upgrade a large number of devices to Android 4.0 ice Cream Sandwich. We were very happy by then. But now a statement from Motorola’s Punit Soni has recently revealed that no Ice Cream Sandwich update will see the light of day for three devices. They will forever stay in Google’s older Android 2.3 OS, a sad happening for users of any of these devices. These 3 devices are - the Motorola Atrix 4G, Photon 4G and Electrify.

Other devices remain unaffected, with perhaps some minor changes in dates at most. Hopefully, this will be the extent of the changes, with no more devices and their owners being forced to suffer on Gingerbread. But there is always a way for you. You can root your device and install a custom ROM. You know the developer community will always have your back.

Read the Motorola’s statement for further details.
Motorola Mobility continues to review how each device can deliver the very best experience possible, and at times, this can mean making tough choices – especially as it relates to Android software upgrades. Today, we need to let you know about some tough choices related to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades. Specifically, ATRIX 4G, Photon 4G and Electrify will not receive the ICS upgrade, but continue to be supported with maintenance releases to ensure optimum performance for the consumer.

We are committed to being more transparent than ever on our software upgrade strategy – even when we’re delivering news consumers may not want to hear. We are doing everything possible to continually improve our communication with you and make sure you are a satisfied customer. That’s why we recently announced our $100 rebate program for owners of these and other devices launched in 2011 and beyond that won’t get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. This program starts in the U.S. this fall, and we are working to expand it to select regions around the world. Please watch for updates at

Samsung working on a Dual-SIM Galaxy Note II for China?

I know that it’s very awkward to hear that Samsung Galaxy Note II having 2 SIM ports inside its tiny body. But that’s what we are seeing in a leak. This specific version of Samsung galaxy Note II will be headed towards China only. According the source, this device is made specifically for China Unicom and has the same specs as the international Note II, with dual-SIM dual standby support. As you can see in the picture below, this Galaxy Note II has 3 card slots. One for microSD, one for normal SIM and one for microSIM.

Other specs of the device remain the same – 1.6 GHz Exynos 4412 quad-core CPU, 2 GB of RAM, 5.5” 720x1280px display, S-Pen, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and other goodies.

Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protects Samsung Galaxy Camera

As we already knew Samsung Galaxy Camera shares a lot of feature of today’s smartphone, now we are exploring deeper. Earlier we heard that Samsung used Gorilla Glass to protect 4.8-inch display of Galaxy Camera. Now we are sure that the Galaxy Camera’s display is indeed protected by the second revision of Gorilla Glass. Sure it’s not going to affect the purchasing decisions of anyone, but it’s still good to know that Samsung didn't cut any corners there. New Corning Gorilla Glass 2 is up to 20 percent thinner than its predecessor. It enables better touch responsiveness and brighter images without sacrificing the damage resistance consumer’s demand.

Galaxy Pocket Duos is the cheapest Dual-SIM Droid by Samsung

Samsung is the only front runner company regularly releasing dual SIM Android phones for various markets. And things are becoming much easier for you to choose when Samsung announced that a duos version of Android Galaxy Pocket will be available soon. And like the original Pocket, Pocket Duos will be the cheapest dual SIM Android phone in market. The Samsung Galaxy Pocket Duos has a 2.8-inch QVGA display of 320 X 240 as usual, which we hate most. It has a 832MHz single core CPU with 2GB internal memory running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. There’s only a MP snapper covers the back of Galaxy Pocket.
Samsung Galaxy Pocket Duos release date
Samsung Galaxy Pocket Duos has a 1200mAh battery which Samsung says is good for 15 hours of talk-time in 2G and 6 hours in 3G. The pricing and availability of the Galaxy Pocket Duos are yet to be confirmed. But my assumption is that Samsung Galaxy Pocket Duos price will be around $120-$130 when released.
