Sony will launch 2-in-1 USB flash drive for Android devices in 2014

If you are a Android user that you should already knew the benefits of OTG functionality in Android devices. It allows any USB flash drive or card reader to connect directly with your smart devices by a simple OTG cable. But we already saw a different approach from ADATA earlier this year. They launched a new USB 2.0 flash drive which has both standard USB port and microUSB to allow seamless connection with your PC and phone or tablet. Now Sony also announces the similar way. Sony will also launch a dual USB flash drive, designed specifically for Android smartphone and tablet users in early 2014.

The gadget combines a full USB 2.0 port and a microUSB connector into a compact, sleek-looking body. It is designed to make file transfer between these and other mobile devices and a PC simple and fast without the need for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. It works with Windows and Mac operating systems for the desktop.

The new Sony flash drive offers USB on-the-go functionality (OTG) for devices running Android 4.0.3 and up. A complimentary file manager app by Sony is compatible with the flash drive. It is available in the Google Play Store. You can unmount the device within the app itself, rather than having to resort to your phone or tablet’s settings menu.
Sony Android flash drive review
The new Sony OTG flash drive will be available in retail stores next month in three different memory capacities – 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. They will be priced at $19.99, $29.99, and $62.99 respectively. The price is a little bit higher than you are expected, considering it is a USB 2.0 device. But it is the start only and we can assure of that price will come down as more players join the race in future.
