Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS Source Code Now Available For Everyone

After Google Samsung Nexus S phone release in US market 16 December with new Android os, 2.3 codename gingerbread, Google made Android 2.3 gingerbread source code publicly available allowing device manufacturers to start the work on installing the Gingerbread on new and existing mobile phones and tablets.  As Android is a open source project, anyone can download it and make his contribution. The Android source code is approximately 2.1GB in size and you will need 6GB free space to complete the build.

To build the Android source files, you will need to use Linux or Mac OS. Building under Windows environment is not possible now. Tricky Google kick to Microsoft!
